Nottingham Forest defender Michael Mancienne couldn’t hide his disappointment, but praised the team’s performance in last night’s draw at Huddersfield.
The Reds conceded a late equaliser
to miss out on a third consecutive away win.
And Mancienne admits there was huge disappointment in the away dressing room after full-time.
Speaking after the match, the defensive midfielder said: “To be honest, the boys are really disappointed. I thought we played really well and to concede late on has hurt us.
“Everyone was outstanding. The boys worked so hard for each other. Kelvin Wilson and Jack Hobbs were ridiculous tonight - I thought they were so good. The best players on the pitch, for me.
“Football is always about fine margins. If you don’t take a chance, you get punished down the other end. That’s happened to us tonight.
“We got a vital point in the end, so there is a silver lining, but obviously we wanted to win the game.”
Mancienne was a surprise inclusion on the teamsheet, with many expecting him to miss out with a hamstring injury which has been troubling him in recent weeks.
But his hard work behind the scenes led to a speedy recovery, allowing him to play the full 90 minutes last night.
Mancienne said: “The physios were really good with me. They’ve helped speed my recovery up.
“It wasn’t too much of a bad pull anyway - it was only a grade one tear in my hamstring - but the physios helped me get back to fitness sharpish.
“I’ve been working hard all week and it’s given me the confidence to be ready for the game.”
