Nottingham Forest manager Dougie Freedman has described the club’s late activity in the transfer window as ‘fantastic’.Forest signed Chris O’Grady, Nelson Oliveira, Ryan Mendes and Jonny Williams on deadline day and the manager is thrilled with the additions he has made to his ranks.
Freedman told Forest Player HD: “I was looking at a profile of players. I think we’ve been a little bit one-dimensional with a lack of depth in the squad.
“Chris O’Grady is the type of player who can play with his back to goal and young Tyler can play off him.
“Oliveira is a fantastic talent and if he settles in we’ve found ourselves a fantastic player - only time will tell there.
“Jonny’s fitness levels are not where they should be. He hasn’t played a lot of games but I felt if we acquired him now and got him up to speed in two-to-three weeks, we’ve got a great player.
“Ryan Mendes is a left winger-cum-striker, an international player. I’ve been tracking him for many years. I tried to sign him for Crystal Palace from Le Havre a few years ago.
“All in all I think it’s a fantastic window for us.”
Freedman confirmed all four new signings will make the trip to QPR this weekend, while there were no fresh injury concerns to report as he prepares his men for another tough Championship encounter.
He said: “QPR have done very well and held on to all their players. We need to make sure we give them respect and understand what they’re all about.
“The players have been prepared over the last ten days and I think we’ve now got a different dimension to us and firepower off the bench.
“I think it’ll be an exciting game.”
