Nottingham Forest supporters have until 5pm today to vote for their The Bed Chambers Player of the Month for September.Dougie Freedman’s men enjoyed a successful month, taking seven points from three away matches at QPR, Birmingham and Huddersfield, and also put in an impressive display during a battling defeat at home to Middlesbrough.
The American played every minute of Forest’s four games during the month and turned in a number of committed performances to help The Reds to impressive away wins at QPR and Birmingham. The defender was unlucky not to score his first goal in Forest colours after good efforts against QPR and Middlesbrough, but he did manage to set up Ryan Mendes’s goal in the 1-1 draw at Huddersfield.
After a solid opening month of the campaign, Mills picked up where he left off at the end of August by enjoying another successful spell at the heart of the Forest back four. His full-blooded displays and excellent leadership have made him a favourite with the supporters and he netted his second goal for The Reds in the 2-1 defeat to Middlesbrough.
The Forest captain led his side to two victories and a draw during the month and scored the equaliser from the penalty spot at QPR by smashing a low spot-kick past Alex Smithies. Lansbury appears to have been invigorated by wearing the captain’s armband and has marshalled the Forest midfield admirably in a successful month for The Reds.
Since signing on loan from Lille at the beginning of the month, Mendes has settled into English football well. He scored his first Forest goal in the 1-1 draw at Huddersfield in the final game of the month. His direct running and pace in attack have already caused problems for Championship defences and his first month at the club has been a strong one.
The striker was voted Man of the Match on his debut in Forest’s victory at QPR at the start of the month and he has made himself the focal point of The Reds’ attack thanks to his superb hold-up play. He turned in a match-winning display at Loftus Road by earning the penalty for Forest’s equaliser before helping set up Nelson Oliveira to score the winner.
