Late leveller denies Under 21s

2 November 2015

A goal eight minutes from time meant Nottingham Forest's Under 21s had to settle for 1-1 draw at home to Sheffield Wednesday this afternoon.

Gerry McDonagh had given Forest the lead earlier in the second half with a well-placed header as The Reds earned a share of the spoils.

A goalless first half saw the best chances fall to Jamie Fullarton's side as Wednesday goalkeeper Cameron Dawson produced a smart double save to deny Jordan Gabriel and Aidan Austin.

But Forest would have the advantage early in the second half as McDonagh headed home Jack Kelly's pinpoint cross into the far corner of the net.

It wasn't to prove the winner though as Wednesday scrambled home a corner on 82 minutes to take a point back to South Yorkshire.

Forest: Erlandsson, Gabriel, Karo, Iacovitti (c), Kelly, Petravicius, Cash, Yates, Austin (Brereton 66'), Thorne, McDonagh
