We can go again

5 March 2015

Nottingham Forest manager Dougie Freedman believes there’s no reason why his side can’t go on another unbeaten run following Tuesday night’s defeat at Charlton.

Freedman praised the consistency of his team’s performances since he took over and thought that his side didn’t get what they deserved at The Valley.

And he added that Saturday’s clash with league leaders Middlesbrough will show how far his side have come since he took over.

Speaking to Forest Player, he said: “Our form has been fantastic and there’s no reason why we can’t go on and do that again. I feel that in this division consistency is the key.

“The consistency was there on Tuesday night but you don’t always get in football what you deserve. We didn’t on Tuesday but it’s an opportunity to get that on Saturday against Middlesbrough who are going very well right now.

“They are top of the league and it’s a challenge for us to see how far we’ve come in a short space of time.”

The Forest boss acknowledged the role the fans have played in recent games, particularly last time out at The City Ground against Bournemouth, and hopes they can cheer his side onto a victory once again at the weekend.

He added: “I feel that the fans are right behind us right now. I’ve seen their fantastic response to a losing team on Tuesday night. The majority of them stayed behind and made sure they were very vocal and the players appreciated that.

“I did say after the Bournemouth game that in the last ten minutes when the players were on their last legs the fans helped them get through it.”
