Ahead of tomorrow’s first-round draw for the 2015-16 Capital One Cup, nottinghamforest.co.uk takes a look back at a memorable encounter between The Reds and Notts County in August 2011.
The two Trentside neighbours shared a thrilling 3-3 draw at The City Ground as goals from Lewis McGugan, Robbie Findley and a stunning strike from Wes Morgan sent the contest to penalties in front of 21,000 supporters.
After 120 minutes of drama and entertainment, Forest were to prevail by four goals to three on spot-kicks to move into the second round and a trip to Wycombe Wanderers.
Forest have been named as one of the seeded teams for this season’s competition so could face a rematch with the Magpies or a potential local clash with the likes of Mansfield Town or Burton Albion.
At the same stage last season, Michail Antonio's goal
gave The Reds a 1-0 win at League Two side Tranmere Rovers as Forest opened the 2014-15 campaign with back-to-back victories.
