Nottingham Forest loanee Gary Gardner is enjoying his defensive midfield role under manager Dougie Freedman.
The Aston Villa midfielder was brought to The City Ground
by former manager Stuart Pearce in January.
But he has adapted quickly to a new boss – and a new role in the team.
Gardner told Forest Player: “I’m the sort of player that likes to get in the box, an all-round midfielder. But the new gaffer has told me to do a job.
“It’s just to get on the ball and to look after the number 10, clean things up, get stuck in, win the headers and get the team playing.
“I’ll play anywhere as long as I’m on that pitch.”
The Reds face AFC Bournemouth at The City Ground on Wednesday night, a side Gardner has already faced this season while on loan at Brighton.
He said: “We played against Bournemouth at their place and to be honest we were unlucky not to get a result.
“Obviously they’re a good team – the table doesn’t lie. But I think we’ve got enough to beat them.
“On the back of a good win the other day we can’t wait for the next game. Hopefully we can get the same result.”
