Nottingham Forest full back Eric Lichaj says Dougie Freedman’s gameplan worked to perfection against Fulham.
Forest swept their visitors aside, winning 3-0 and limiting the league’s leading scorers to very few opportunities.
And Lichaj believes his manager’s instructions paid off.
He said: “The manager gave us a way to play. He wanted us compact throughout the whole team so they didn’t get a lot of chances. His gameplan worked – we worked on set pieces as well and got two set-piece goals.
“The hard work we’ve been putting in in past weeks is coming off for us. Hopefully we can keep this run going.”
The game was played out in extremely windy conditions, ones which favoured Fulham in the first half and Forest in the second.
And Lichaj admits it caused a few problems for the back four.
The American said: “First half it was quite difficult. I was talking to Millsy about it – he couldn’t go for some of the balls and we were just covering each other.
“We dealt with it as best we could and came out with the victory.”
