Nottingham Forest owner and chairman Fawaz Al Hasawi has outlined some of the club’s 150th anniversary plans in this afternoon’s programme notes.
The Reds take on Rotherham United (kick-off 3pm) and Al Hasawi has provided an update on the club’s celebrations for the milestone year.
He writes: ‘Today will be a fantastic occasion as we celebrate our 150th anniversary for the first time at a home league match. Nottinghamshire FA are here today to present us with a gift and I would like to express my immense gratitude for this gesture.
‘To mark the milestone we have designed a special centre circle banner, while this season will see the players warm up in ‘150 year’ t-shirts sporting the name of different season ticket holders at selected matches. Some of you will also notice a familiar face in Sherwood the Bear, who has returned as our official mascot for the new season.
‘On Monday we will celebrate the launch of the club’s official 150th anniversary book, Forever Forest. John McGovern will join club historian and author Don Wright in the megastore to sign copies. It is a fascinating read and a fitting tribute to our club’s brilliant history.’
Today’s cover design was originally used in the 1986-87 season. Inside, readers will find interviews with new signing Matt Mills and former Red Duncan McKenzie.
The programme will be available to purchase at The City Ground megastore and from sellers around the stadium.
