Nottingham Forest manager Dougie Freedman says Ben Osborn should be ready to play in Friday’s season-opener at Brighton.
Osborn suffered a dislocated shoulder in Forest’s friendly at Doncaster
on 21 July but the repercussions were not severe.
And, while he was unable to take part in any friendlies since his injury, Osborn could well make Freedman’s squad for the trip to the Amex Stadium
New signing Daniel Pinillos will also be in Freedman’s thoughts, although he is unlikely to start after missing a significant chunk of pre-season.
Freedman told Forest Player HD: “Ben should be okay. He trained with us this morning and most of last week with the physios. He should be fine for the weekend, at worst Monday morning.
“Daniel is just struggling for fitness. Because of his situation he missed the first three weeks of pre-season. He’s really got to catch up.
“We’ve got a strong, fit squad. Everybody’s healthy, which is great testament to the medical and sports science staff.”
Freedman is waiting to hear whether or not he will be able to include Ben Hamer in his travelling party.
The goalkeeper has returned to Leicester while the two clubs try to iron out a complication in his loan transfer.
Freedman said: “Technical issues have happened with the embargo. I’ve got to say Leicester have been very helpful in trying to get this one over the line.
“It’s something I’d like to get done before the start of the season and I’m still very hopeful.”
