Nottingham Forest defender Kelvin Wilson was thrilled to help his side to their first win of the season yesterday.
The Reds beat Rotherham United 2-1 at The City Ground
and Wilson hopes the result will be the catalyst for a successful season.
Speaking after the game, the defender said: “The first win of the season is always a bit nervy for everyone, so to get that one is nice.
“In the first half we were a bit nervy all round, even the crowd, we all wanted that win, but in the second half we settled down.
“You look for something that’s going to kick-start your season and hopefully that will. We’ve not been as good as we can be in the first two games, especially against Walsall, and we’ve got to build on it now. We can’t just be comfortable with that.”
Matt Mills was Wilson’s central defensive partner yesterday and the summer signing rewarded the manager’s selection with the equalising goal.
And Wilson is confident that, whichever partnership Freedman selects for any given match, there will be enough defensive quality on show to achieve success.
He said: “Whether it’s me, Millsy, Hobbsy or Michael Mancienne back there, we’re all experienced, good players. Whichever partnership the gaffer chooses will work. Whoever gets left out will provide real quality on the bench.
“It’s who the gaffer prefers to play there on the day. He might choose to play different players there for different teams, that’s up to him.”
