Jorge Grant says he will remember his goal against Tottenham Hotspur 'forever'.
The 19-year-old midfielder opened the scoring at White Hart Lane on his full debut for the club
, a goal which looked as though it might have handed The Reds victory in the third round of the Capital One Cup.
But Spurs went on to win the game 3-1 thanks to strikes from Ryan Mason, Roberto Soldado and Harry Kane.
Speaking after the match, Grant said: “I’ll remember that forever. It was my first start and to get a goal was great but we wanted to win the game really and it’s unlucky that we haven’t.”
Grant played as part of a youthful side and thought Forest performed admirably against the top-flight team.
He said: “We had a plan going into the game to sit back and wait for them to come on, then we would press. I thought we held our own against a good Premier League side.
“We got the goal and thought they were on the ropes but they had a long shot and that changed the game.”
The central midfielder found out he was playing on Tuesday during training.
He said: “I was buzzing. I had a bit of a sleepless night but it was all in excitement.
“It was a great experience to play at White Hart Lane.”
