Nottingham Forest full back Eric Lichaj can’t wait to hear The City Ground in full voice this weekend.
Forest take on their greatest rivals in Sunday’s televised clash and Lichaj, whose one-and-only experience of this fixture came in last season’s 1-0 victory over The Rams
, hopes his side can help generate the same noise levels that greeted Jack Hobbs’ famous first-half header.
He told Forest Player: “I remember when we scored last year the stadium just erupted. Hopefully we can get two or three eruptions going this weekend.
“Everyone in the squad is ready to go. We’ve been preparing like it’s a normal week, but everyone knows it’s a massive game.
“We just want to make sure our fans go home with a smile on their faces.”
Lichaj returned to the squad recently after a lengthy spell on the sidelines and has stiff competition from Jack Hunt for the right back slot.
Versatility, however, is a useful asset to have, and Lichaj’s ability to play on the other side of defence could well leave the door open for him to claim a starting berth.
He said: “I don’t mind playing either side and it doesn’t matter which centre back I’m playing with. I just make sure I do my job.
“I’m just glad to be back playing and hopefully I can stay fit for the rest of the season. The body feels good.
“I think I’m as ready as I’ll ever be for this game.”
