Matt Derbyshire Wins Goal Of The Season Award

3 May 2014

Matt Derbyshire has won the 2013-14 Nottingham Forest Goal of the Season award for his stunning winner against Leeds United.

The strike, which also won Forest’s Goal of 2013 competition, was voted as the winner by Forest Player subscribers.
Derbyshire’s goal received 41% of the votes and narrowly beat Henri Lansbury’s effort against Bournemouth to claim the top prize. Jamie Paterson’s FA Cup hat-trick goal against West Ham rounded off the top three.
Derbyshire, who has scored four goals in The Reds’ last four games, was thrilled to receive the award.
Speaking to Forest Player, he said: “It was a nice goal for myself, but most importantly it was about the team getting the three points.
“It’s definitely up there as one of my best goals as far as strikes go, and in terms of importance as well."
