Chairman and owner Fawaz Al Hasawi has spoken of his desire to see Nottingham Forest play out their 150th year in the Premier League. The Reds will head into the 2014-15 season with every intention of winning promotion to the top flight under the management of Stuart Pearce.
And Mr Al Hasawi, who was present at The City Ground as Pearce addressed players and staff this afternoon, says there would be no better way to usher in a milestone year than by securing Premier League football.
He told nottinghamforest.co.uk: “The fans, Stuart and I share the same dream. We all want to win promotion. Unfortunately we have been unable to achieve that target as yet, however I genuinely believe we are making progress.
“I will do my best to give Stuart everything he needs and I hope this time next year we will be heading into our 150th anniversary season with Premier League football on the horizon.”
This afternoon’s meeting saw Pearce call for the entire club to display togetherness, a sentiment his chairman backs.
Mr Al Hasawi said: “It was fantastic to see Stuart addressing our players and staff. He took it upon himself to do so and his words were inspirational.
“There is more to a club than its manager, players and owner and Stuart recognises that. We have a lot of staff who work extremely hard for the good of the club and it gave me great pleasure to see everyone united under one roof.
“I look forward to us all moving forward together as we pursue our dream of taking Nottingham Forest back into the Premier League.”
