Nottingham Forest midfielder Jonathan Greening says he and his teammates need to “ride out” the bad luck they have been experiencing recently.Jack Hobbs, Guy Moussi and Darius Henderson were all added to the extensive list of unavailable players for yesterday’s visit of Wigan Athletic, a match which ended 4-1 to the visitors.
Speaking to Forest Player after the game, Greening said: “I think the first goal sums it up for us at the minute. The ball took a couple of deflections straight into the path of their player who had an open goal.
“We seemed to be on the front foot in the second half but gave a sloppy goal away which knocked us off our feet a bit. We’ve been unfortunate with injuries and other things recently and we just need to ride this bad luck out.”
Greening made his first start of the season in yesterday’s match but says his work alongside Under 21s coach Charlie McParland hasn’t hampered his fitness levels.
He said: “I’ve been training with the first team for the last couple of weeks because we’ve had so many injuries. Result aside it was nice to get a game. I know my career is coming towards the end but I just want to do my best for the team, manager and the coaches.
“The gaffer knows I’m there if he needs me and I’ll always give 100%.”
