Nottingham Forest’s Under 18s will visit Valencia next month for a pre-season training camp.
Gary Brazil and his side will fly out to the Spanish city on 21 July, where they will play matches against Valencia, Levante and Villarreal, before returning to the UK to take on Fulham at the Nigel Doughty Academy.
Forest’s academy operations manager Tony Cook said: “The trip isn’t just football. It’s a two-week programme based around pre-season training, but there will also be learning classes run by the LFE, cultural visits to different parts of the city and a visit from Valencia’s academy director, who will run a couple of training sessions with our players.
“The 2002-born group are also going to Valencia for a week’s tournament, while our 2001-borns are heading to Fermentelos in Portugal. Gary took the Under 18s there for their pre-season training camp last year.
“Going abroad is very good experience for the academy sides and, thinking long-term, we’d like to start getting every age group away over the summer.”
