Reds Duo In International Action

5 June 2014

Nottingham Forest's Simon Cox and David Vaughan both made appearances for their respective countries in the latest round of World Cup warm-up matches.

Cox appeared as a 73rd-minute substitute for Shane Long in the Republic of Ireland's creditable 0-0 draw with Italy at Craven Cottage on Saturday night. The Forest striker will be hoping to feature for Martin O'Neill's side in the coming days as they take on Costa Rica (Saturday 7 June) and Portugal (Tuesday 10 June).

Meanwhile, Vaughan also came off the bench to play the final 12 minutes of Wales' battling 2-0 defeat against the Netherlands in Amsterdam. The midfielder is aiming to keep hold of a place in Chris Coleman's team before the 2016 European Championship Qualifiers get underway in September.
