Nottingham Forest’s Brian Eastick believes new signing Lars Veldwijk will slot in to the environment that Stuart Pearce wants to create at the club.
Both Eastick and Pearce scouted the 22-year-old Dutchman when he starred for Excelsior in the Dutch first division play-offs in May, scoring four goals in four games as they secured promotion to the Eredivisie.
Eastick said: “Stuart went to watch him play at the end of the season and I went to watch him play on a couple of occasions and we think that he’s got very good potential.
“He’s probably not one to come into the team straight away and hit the ground running but we do certainly see him breaking into the first team squad once he gets settled in.”
Eastick is excited about the potential that Veldwijk possesses and is confident that he will flourish under his and Pearce’s tutelage.
He added: “When Stuart did his initial press conference he said that one thing that he will guarantee is that all the players under his control will be given the opportunity to improve.
“He wants to create that learning environment and we think that Lars will fit very nicely into that.”
