Nottingham Forest first-team coach Steve Wigley says The Reds got 'exactly what they wanted' from this afternoon's 4-0 win at Ilkeston FC.
A brace apiece from Simon Cox and Ben Osborn gave Forest a comfortable win at The New Manor Ground and Wigley says the coaching staff will go home happy with the day's work.
"Pre-season is all about fitness and we want to have as many players fit for the first game of the season. We've come out of this game well in that respect.
"I'm not a lover of pre-season I have to admit but we got exactly what we wanted from today. Every player got at least 45 minutes into his legs so that will be beneficial to them."
Forest were able to give debuts to new signings Matty Fryatt, Louis Laing and Lars Veldvijk and Wigley was delighted with their contributions and with his goalscorers.
He said: "We had a mixture of new signings and young players from the Academy and we just had enough. It was pleasing to be able to field two different teams in each half as well.
"It was great for Coxy and Ben to get on the scoresheet and I hope they remain there when the season starts."
