Plenty of plusses

23 July 2014

Nottingham Forest first-team coach Brian Eastick has told Forest Player there were “a lot of plusses” to come out of this evening’s friendly against Rotherham.

The Reds were beaten 1-0 but Eastick was impressed with elements of the team’s play.

He said: “There are a lot of good things to take out of the game. Some of our football up until the final third was very good, the whole back four did very well, there was some good rotation in the midfield and we played through the pitch very well.

“We’re a shade unlucky not to get a draw but overall we need to be better in the final third. It’s early days and tonight’s performance was certainly an improvement of the ones in Portugal.”

Michael Mancienne and Jack Hunt both gave solid first performances and Eastick hopes the latter’s arrival will help Stuart Pearce deal with the defensive selection dilemma he is currently facing.

Eastick said: “We’ve got a few injuries at the back, it’s been well publicised. We think bringing Jack into the club will give competition for places.

“We know he can play at this level and he will give us a bit more breathing space at right back.”
