Nottingham Forest winger Jamie Paterson is enjoying the positive atmosphere surrounding The Reds’ Portuguese training camp.Paterson, who had a successful first season at The City Ground following his arrival from Walsall a year ago, is half-way through a week-long stay in Braga with his teammates.
Also present on the trip are a host of new staff members, and Paterson says everyone is contributing towards what is a vibrant atmosphere in the camp.
He told nottinghamforest.co.uk: “The staff have been great. They’re a good laugh but they’re working us hard and getting on our backs in training, which is what we need.
“There’s a good atmosphere here. Everyone’s having a laugh but being professional with it.
“We’ve got a nice set-up at the hotel and training ground and we’ve got another game to look forward to on Saturday.”
The tricky midfielder played the full 90 minutes in yesterday’s victory over Porto B and while, by his own admission, he wasn’t at his jinking best, Paterson was happy to report that his fitness levels are improving nicely.
He said: “It wasn’t one of my best performances. It was hard work, they were a decent side as well, but I feel like I’m getting fitter.
“I felt a bit unfit when I came back after the summer but I’m starting to get better and everyone else is looking sharper.
“It’s good to do fitness work in the sun because when you go back home you’ll feel that little bit sharper.
“It’s not about performances in pre-season, it’s just about getting minutes into your legs.”
