Ben Reeves's goal condemned Nottingham Forest to defeat at Milton Keynes Dons this afternoon.
Forest were beaten by Reeves's early strike as Dean Lewington enjoyed his testimonial match at stadium:mk following ten years service for the Dons.
The home side were the first to show on a warm afternoon in Buckinghamshire and grabbed the early advantage after 13 minutes.
Excellent link-up play between Danny Green and Lee Hodson in the right-hand channel led to the latter delivering a low cross which Reeves was on hand to slot home from 12 yards.
Forest looked for an immediate response and had two chances to restore parity in quick succession. First Andy Reid curled a 20-yard free-kick narrowly over the bar before Ben Osborn charged at the Dons defence but shot wide of the target.
Karl Robinson's side were enjoying the lion's share of the possession and should have doubled their lead on 35 minutes. Darren Potter escaped his man as Green whipped a corner into the area but the midfielder could only head wide at the near post.
Reds stopper Karl Darlow was called into action shortly before half-time as he had to be alert to palm away Green's low strike but the Dons only took a single-goal lead into the break.
Stuart Pearce made a solitary change at the interval as Jorge Grant replaced Radi Majewski and the visitors began the second half brightly. Dons goalkeeper David Martin watched Reid's free-kick fly past his far post before he denied Lars Veldwijk with an acrobatic stop.
With 20 minutes remaining on the clock Forest stepped up their quest to find an equaliser. Reid played Osborn in inside the penalty area but the young midfielder was denied by the legs of Martin before Stephen McLaughlin's effort was pushed away by the Dons number one.
Grant was the next to try his luck as he sent a stinging 20-yard drive towards the Dons goal but Martin was again equal to it. The Reds' bench reacted by making a triple change with Danny Collins, Simon Cox and Jamie Paterson replacing Danny Fox, Osborn and Reid.
Forest pushed for an equaliser late on as Greg Halford headed over from Paterson's corner and despite late introductions to the the game for Louis Laing and Tyler Walker, the Reds fell to another pre-season defeat.
