Nottingham Forest assistant manager Steve Wigley says Henri Lansbury will be assessed by the club’s physios tomorrow after picking up an injury against Rio Ave this evening. The midfielder called for immediate treatment after appearing to injure his knee in a challenge with Filipe Augusto 12 minutes into the game.
Wigley told Forest Player after the match: “We’re just hoping it isn’t as bad as it seemed when it happened because he put his arm up right away.
“The physios will have a look at what the swelling’s like tomorrow.”
Forest lost the game 1-0 but, despite the result, Wigley believes it was a worthwhile run-out.
He said: “Rio Ave a good side and, in hot conditions like tonight, they kept the ball and we didn’t for the first 25 minutes. But once we got a little bit more in their face and settled down we started to come into the game.
“I thought it was an even game in the second half. Unfortunately we had a set piece for ourselves, the keeper caught it and they went straight up the other end and scored. But it was a good workout for us. The lads know they’ve been in a game.
“We’ll now get ready for Rotherham on Wednesday.”
