Nottingham Forest first-team coach Brian Eastick is looking forward to renewing acquaintances with new signing Michael Mancienne. The 26-year-old completed the formalities of his move to The City Ground this evening while Eastick was watching The Reds beat Porto B 3-2 in Pedroso.
And Eastick is confident Mancienne will prove to be a worthwhile addition to the squad.
He told Forest Player: “We know Michael very well. I first came across him when I was the England Under 19s coach seven or eight years ago. He captained the Under 19 and Under 20 teams and he played a number of games for Stuart at Under 21 level.
“He came through the Chelsea academy and is very versatile. He’s a good athlete and has a spot-on character. I would imagine having spent the last couple of years playing in the German Bundesliga he’ll have developed as a player.
“We think he’s a really good acquisition.”
The announcement of Mancienne’s arrival coincided with kick-off in The Reds’ second pre-season friendly of the summer, a game they turned on its head after twice going behind.
Eastick said: “Overall it was a pleasing result and a decent performance.
“There is still a lot to work on and we’re disappointed with conceding two goals. But it’s really early days at the moment and it gives us something to build on as we move along in pre-season.”
Highlights of the Porto B match will be available on Forest Player from 12pm, while Eastick’s interview can be watched in full here.
