21s Cruise Past Pilgrims

21 July 2014

Nottingham Forest's Under 21s romped to a resounding 4-1 victory at Boston United last night in their latest pre-season friendly.

A brace from Jorge Grant was added to by strikes from Ilias Polimos and trialist Sandicino Silva as Jimmy Gilligan's side made it two pre-season wins from as many matches at The Jakemans Stadium.

Gilligan fielded a team with a mix of familiar names and trialists but was able to give new signing Roger Riera the full 90 minutes in his first game since arriving from Barcelona.

The Reds were in front shortly before the half-hour mark after a speedy counter-attack allowed Grant to escape and the midfielder calmly lifted a lob over the advancing goalkeeper.

Silva doubled the advantage on the stroke of half-time as he bundled home at the back post before Grant extended the lead after the break with a powerful finish.

An outstanding run from Silva led to The Reds' final goal of the night as he crossed for Polimos to stab in a fourth and although Stefan Galinski grabbed a late consolation for the hosts, Forest could be satisfied with a good night's work in Lincolnshire.

Forest: Durrant (Myles 62'), Polimos, Gutmy, Royo (Todorov 62'), Riera, Asare, Silva, Grant (Schoenecker 62'), Walker (Demetriou 62'), Blake, Otim (Gnahore 62')
