Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies says confidence is high amongst his squad following this afternoon’s 4-1 win over Blackburn Rovers at The City Ground.Second-half strikes from Jamie Paterson and Andy Reid added to a brace of first-half penalties from Henri Lansbury and the manager was thrilled with the way his side imposed themselves on their in-form visitors.
The Reds boss told Forest Player: “It was a fantastic three points. We were disappointed to concede a soft goal to let Blackburn back into the game but I thought our response was excellent and we thoroughly deserved the win.
“We played some wonderful football in the first half and created some great chances. We should have made more of those opportunities but that won’t take the shine off a superb three points.
“There’s a great spirit in the squad and confidence is rightfully very high. But we’ll keep our feet on the ground, have a good week of training and prepare for the visit of Preston on Friday night.”
Man of the Match Paterson notched his fifth goal in three games to kill off any chance of a Rovers resurgence and his manager is pleased at how the former Walsall man is progressing in a youthful Forest side.
The Reds boss said: “Jamie is a talented young player. He is building his confidence with every game that goes by and he’s getting better. We know he can always score us a goal too and that’s important.
“But we know when to put young players in the team and when to leave them out. We’re missing some key players from the side but great credit must go to the younger lads for stepping up.”
