Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies praised his side’s “outstanding attitude” in tonight’s breathtaking 4-2 win over Watford at The City Ground.Forest had fallen 2-0 behind to Gabriele Angella’s brace but goals from Darius Henderson, Jamie Mackie and a double for Simon Cox gave The Reds a vital victory and strengthened their grip on a Championship playoff place.
And despite seeing his side serve up a disappointing first-half performance, the Reds boss was equally thrilled to witness them deliver a first-class display after the break as they romped home to a comfortable win.
The Reds manager said: “First half the energy from back to front was not good enough. We struggled to create any clear-cut chances and we defended the set-pieces very poorly.
“In the second half we were exceptional. The lads showed an outstanding attitude and great bottle to deliver three fantastic points.”
Forest’s four goals were all scored by substitutes this evening as Cox, Henderson and Mackie all came off the bench to devastating effect, and their manager had nothing but good words for the trio.
The Reds boss said: “The three substitutes were magnificent tonight. Their energy and work rate was reflected in the goals they scored and I’m really pleased for the three of them.
“It’s never easy when a manager tells you you’re not starting. But to come on with that attitude and application leaves me absolutely delighted.”
