Last-Minute Checks

4 January 2014

Billy Davies will assess a number of players in training today before confirming his team selection for tomorrow’s FA Cup with Budweiser third-round visit of West Ham.

The Reds are on duty at The Nigel Doughty Academy as they finalise their preparations for the visit of Sam Allardyce’s men. Among them are Marcus Tudgay, Ishmael Miller and Guy Moussi, who returned from their respective loan spells this week and, according to the manager, they could all feature against The Hammers.

Speaking to Forest Player ahead of today’s session, the Reds manager said: “They are back with us as Nottingham Forest players, it’s now up to them to get back into the squad. We’ll have a look at them as well as some of the guys who are recovering from injury.

“David Vaughan is ticking along, I would think he’s still 50/50. Danny Collins is making steady progress but we’ll have to see how Darius Henderson is after he picked up a slight injury. We have one or two other knocks which we need to assess this morning before making a final decision tomorrow.”

The Christmas period is a punishing one for every side, with many managers expected to freshen things up by making changes to their squads this weekend. Forest’s boss is no different, but he insists any alterations he makes will be done with a view to maintaing his side’s excellent recent level of performance.

He said: “We will certainly change one or two things around but, no matter what, we want to play well, win the game and get through to the next round.

“Irrespective of who plays we want to keep the good run going and keep winning matches. Our recent performances have been very good and this is an excellent challenge for us against a Premier League club.

“West Ham have an excellent manager, staff and squad. We’re not fooled. This is a very difficult match, but it’s also a good one for us to be involved in.”
