That Winning Feeling

5 February 2014

Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies says there is an air of excitement amongst his squad ahead of tonight’s FA Cup with Budweiser fourth-round replay at Preston North End (kick-off 7.45pm).

But despite his side’s current 13-match unbeaten run, the Reds boss insists they will not be getting ahead of themselves as they aim for to set up a fifth-round tie against League One strugglers Sheffield United.

He told Forest Player: “The fixture list between now and the end of the season is becoming smaller and smaller. We know each game will carry extra importance and more pressure but that has only created excitement within the group.

“The Preston game will be a tough one for both sides but all we are focused on is reaching the next round. The boys have been magnificent recently but we keep reminding them to look at the next game on the fixture list and no further than that.”

Forest will be aware of the threat posed by Simon Grayson’s side following the 0-0 draw at The City Ground 12 days ago and the Reds boss says they will need to be at their best if they are to advance to the fifth round.

“It’s a very good game to look forward to,” he said. “Deepdale is an excellent place to play football and it will be a very difficult cup match. But we’re well prepared and we’re all looking forward to the challenge.

“As I’ve always said, cup football is a great leveller. We’ve got to turn up, compete on the night and show that desire to get into the next round of a very important competition.”
