Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies says his side have got to “forget” about the injury problems surrounding the club as the season enters its closing stages.Andy Reid yesterday joined a long list of key players currently on the treatment table, but ahead of tomorrow’s visit of Wigan Athletic the manager stressed how important it was for his available players to be prepared for the run-in.
He told Forest Player: “There’s huge expectation here, irrespective of the quality we are missing. This club demands success and that’s what you’ve got to deal with. We accept that’s the nature of this club and the fans.
“We’ve got to forget about the injury situation. This is all about 14 games and we’ve now got to realise it’s time to roll our sleeves up.”
The Reds boss also confirmed he and chairman Fawaz Al Hasawi are exploring the loan market, but says the club will not be panicked into signing players for the sake of it.
He said: “We’re doing the research and making calls about players. But the last thing we want to do now is bring in people who aren’t at the right fitness level or who are looking to come here for other reasons.
“It’s important we bring in players with the right mentality. The chairman and I have spoken over the last number of days about people who might be available both in the UK and overseas – not only for this loan window but also for the summer.
“We’ll keep doing that every single day.”
