Message From Fawaz

10 February 2014

Nottingham Forest chairman and owner Fawaz Al Hasawi has delivered a message to supporters.

My long-standing love of this football club is well documented. Since my days as a youngster watching the great Brian Clough's legacy unfold and revelling in Forest's visit to my local club Qadsia, my respect and understanding of Nottingham Forest blossomed. Albeit from thousands of miles away, I had become a passionate supporter of this great club - a status I proudly retain today.

I am now in the privileged position of being chairman and owner, but for me this is merely a title. It is of course my responsibility to guide the club prudently, but I am also keen to maintain the same viewpoint as you, my fellow supporters. I don't want to be a distant figure, nor do I want to miss out on the excitement I am sure you are all enjoying as the season enters its final months.

Chairmen come and go but fans will continue for generations. I want to be an owner you can be proud of and have confidence in, but I also want to be someone you can relate to and approach with any issues or questions. I see myself as just one man representing you all, which is why I am so open. I respect you all, I listen to you all, and everything I say comes from my heart.

I am working hard to make this a sociable football club and I hope to give you all a greater insight into how the club is working behind the scenes by staging an open day in the near future. A lot of very hard work goes on in the background and I want to give you all the chance to meet our staff and learn more about the great work they are doing. I see us all as one big family and it's time we all came together.

May I end this message by stating how touched I was to read of your plans for a 'Fawaz Day' at tomorrow's match against Huddersfield. Knowing you are all behind me is an incredible feeling. As always I cannot wait until kick-off, when I can once again join you in proudly backing our team as we look to make it 16 matches unbeaten.

Come on you Reds.
