Tough to take

29 December 2014

Nottingham Forest captain Michael Mancienne admitted he couldn’t believe what had happened after yesterday’s 3-1 home defeat to Birmingham City.

The Reds fell three goals behind in the space of ten first-half minutes despite starting brightly and Mancienne felt they deserved more from the game.

Speaking after the match, he said: “All the boys don’t really know what’s just happened. I thought we dominated the game and started really well in the first 30 minutes.

“We were playing really well, the boys were on their game and I felt comfortable at the back. I never felt like they were going to score up until their goal.

“But they’ve scored three goals that have taken us by surprise. The boys are really disappointed because we feel like we should have won that today.”

The 26-year-old added that he can’t work out why Forest are struggling to win games at the moment, but that they can turn their form around.

“I can’t put my finger on it. We’ve been a little unlucky in some games, some decisions have gone against us, but I can’t blame everything on that. We’ve got to take it upon ourselves to go out and grab the game now.

“It can definitely be turned around though. There’s so many games left to go. We’ve got to get a run going.”
