Stuart Pearce confirmed 23 outfield players were available for training this morning as Nottingham Forest’s injury worries continue to gradually ease.David Vaughan, Dexter Blackstock and Greg Halford were the only players to miss out as The Reds continued their preparations for Saturday’s trip to Bolton.
Speaking ahead of training this morning, Pearce said: “To have 23 outfield players training, with the likes of Vaughan being very close to coming back into contention as well, is really good for us.
“The number of injuries we had in pre-season was horrific – we need to solve that and the players need to put me under pressure when it comes to team selection.”
One man who will be looking to do that is Kelvin Wilson, who faces stiff competition for a central defensive slot when he returns to full fitness.
Pearce said: “We think Bolton will be slightly too early for Kelvin.
“Jamaal Lascelles played 45 minutes midweek but I think the weekend will be too early for him as well.
“But those individuals, along with Henri Lansbury, were on the training pitch with us today.”
