Nottingham Forest’s Under 18s coach Jack Lester was pleased with the side’s opening-day performance against Millwall, but says there is plenty to work on.
The Reds drew 1-1 in the capital, Alex Iacovitti cancelling out the home side’s early opener with a header from a corner.
And, while a little frustrated not to see the youngsters take all three points, Lester was happy with the way they managed to break down their stubborn opponents.
He told nottinghamforest.co.uk: “It was a good test for us. Millwall had something to defend for most of the game and they gave it everything.
“We looked fit, there were some good bits of quality and some things to work on. But I was pleased with the performance.
“It was just a bit frustrating because we did more than enough to win comfortably.
“We just couldn’t get the equaliser early enough.”
The 18s are next in action away to Barnsley on Friday.
