Debutant goalscorer Chris Burke was pleased with the efficiency of Nottingham Forest’s performance in yesterday’s 2-0 win over Blackpool.
A full house witnessed Burke and fellow debutant Michail Antonio fire The Reds into an unsurmountable 2-0 lead.
And, while Burke was pleased to get on the scoresheet himself, he believes the team’s display bodes well for the future.
Speaking to Forest Player after the match, he said: “It was nice to get off to a good start personally but I think the team as a whole put in a promising performance today. We were very sharp, got the goals early on and I thought we dominated, especially in the first 45 minutes.
“It’s virtually impossible to dominate for 90 minutes but when you’re on top you have to make sure you score and, when you’re not on top, you have to make sure you don’t concede.
“We did that and we got the three points we were looking for.”
The Tangerines struggled to cope with Forest all afternoon but, despite the convincing manner of victory, Burke believes there is much more to come from him and his teammates.
He said: “We’re a team that’s still gelling together. I think that showed in little parts where we would have liked to have kept the ball a bit better.
“But they are the demands we set ourselves and I think if you do that, if you expect a lot from yourselves, you’ll be successful.”
