Nottingham Forest chairman and owner Fawaz Al Hasawi says he is delighted to have appointed ‘club legend’ Stuart Pearce as The Reds’ new manager. The former Forest left-back will take over as the club’s new boss on 1 July and Mr Al Hasawi says he was happy to take his time with his selection process before appointing Pearce this afternoon.
Mr Al Hasawi told Forest Player: “I would like to welcome Stuart to our club and to his club. I would like to thank the fans for their patience as well. I know it has taken a while to appoint the new manager but I wanted to wait so I could pick the right man.
“Stuart is the right man for the job and I wish him all the best. He is a legend of Nottingham Forest but he also has an excellent managerial CV after working with Manchester City and England which is very impressive.
“We will all be behind Stuart as players, staff and supporters. I know that the fans love him and I’m sure they are all delighted to see him here just as we are. With the backing of the supporters I know we will go on to great things.”
John McGovern was also in attendance as Pearce was presented to the media this afternoon and the Club Ambassador says he is convinced that The Reds have chosen the right man to lead them into the 2014-15 campaign.
McGovern said: “We’re delighted that Stuart has decided to join Nottingham Forest. I’m sure he’ll do well given his experience in management and with the backing of the chairman.
“Stuart will have plenty of time to set things up before taking over at the start of next season regardless of what league we’re in. We all know the qualities Stuart had as a player and I’m sure he’ll bring those credentials to the club as a manager.”
