Keep Pushing

23 April 2014

Nottingham Forest defender Jamaal Lascelles says he and his teammates have a playoff place firmly in their sights following Monday’s victory at Leeds United.

Lascelles was at the heart of a defence which stood firm to keep a second successive clean sheet.

Speaking after the match, Lascelles said: “We put in a really good performance against a physical team. Derbs took his goals well and our defending was excellent. It was good to get another clean sheet.

“We’re one point outside the playoffs as things stand and there’s no reason we can’t keep pushing. Gary is right behind us, he’s a great manager and we’re just looking forward to the next game.”

There were senior debuts for Stephen McLaughlin and Dimitar Evtimov at Elland Road, while Ben Osborn and Lascelles were also present in a youthful-looking line up at Elland Road.

Lascelles said: “Gary has done a really good job of putting faith in his young players. I think it’s really important and I’m sure the fans are pleased to see that. I thought Ben and Macca were excellent - they showed great legs, which was what we needed against a more experienced Leeds midfield - and it was great to see Dimi Evtimov come on and make some good saves at the end.”
