Hall Of Fame For Francis

24 April 2014

Nottingham Forest European Cup winner Trevor Francis has received one of the highest honours in English football.

Francis, who netted The Reds’ winning goal in the 1979 European Cup final triumph over Malmo, will be inducted into the National Football Museum’s English Hall of Fame in October alongside the likes of Alan Shearer, Ray Wilkins and Michael Owen.

The former Forest man was chosen as one of the latest inductees by a panel which includes Sir Bobby Charlton, Sir Alex Ferguson, Gordon Taylor, Mark Lawrenson and other footballing greats.

Francis said: “It is a real honour to be selected to join the Hall of Fame alongside so many outstanding players from the history of the game.”

The 2014 Hall of Fame dinner takes place on 16 October and members of the public can purchase tickets for the exclusive event by e-mailing halloffame@nationalfootballmuseum.com.
