Nottingham Forest temporary manager Gary Brazil has revealed David Vaughan is likely to be in the squad for tomorrow’s trip to QPR.Vaughan, who has been missing since early February with a fractured kneecap, could be joined by Kelvin Wilson, while Brazil also had positive news to report on Andy Reid and Eric Lichaj.
Speaking to Forest Player, Brazil said: “We’re starting to get bodies back. Reid is just about ready and Lichaj’s getting closer.
“It’s nice to think we will probably have Wilson and Vaughan on the coach going down to QPR. They provide us with extra selection opportunities.
“Vaughany gives us quality and the ability to maintain possession. He’s been back on the training ground for a short period of time now, we just need to build his endurance up.
“When he’s training in tight areas he’s absolutely fine, we just need to get him used to doing the bigger area work. You can see his quality and to get him back with the group on matchdays will be fantastic for us.”
With a number of key players on the verge of a return, Brazil says he is facing a different kind of selection dilemma ahead of the trip to Loftus Road.
He said: “Henri Lansbury started on Tuesday night and we’re hoping he’ll be fine again for the weekend, so it creates selection difficulties in terms of picking the correct team. But they’re the problems you want.
“We’re actually leaving people behind now, whereas before it was all hands to the pump. Whoever was available would be in the squad.”
One pressing issue for Brazil to solve is who will replace the suspended Danny Collins, who will serve a one-game ban after being sent off on Tuesday night.
Brazil said: “We’ve got a number of options. Kelvin’s back now and Greg Halford has the option to play centre half, as does Jamaal Lascelles, while Lee Peltier’s has also played in that position.
“We’ll come to a decision after tomorrow’s training session.”
