Chairman's Column: Sheffield Wednesday

8 April 2014

Thank you all so much for the welcome you gave me on my first visit to The City Ground on Saturday. Your applause warmed my heart and I can now see more than ever why my son Fawaz holds the supporters of Forest in such high regard. I look forward to seeing you all again this evening. - Mama Badriah
I would like to start by thanking you all for the reception you gave my mother and me prior to kick-off at the Millwall match on Saturday. It was her very first visit to The City Ground and it was an incredibly proud moment for me to introduce her to you all and to show her the wonderful surroundings we all call home.
Of course I had told my mother many times about the noise of our home support and, despite a below-par first-half performance, she was given an accurate reflection right up until the final whistle. It was a frustrating day for us all but you stayed behind Gary Brazil and the team all the way, and for that I am extremely grateful.
I am confident we will begin to start repaying your loyalty with positive results soon. It was fantastic to see Kelvin Wilson and Henri Lansbury, two of many players who have suffered horrible injuries this campaign, return to action. Henri’s impact was clear for all to see as we pressed forward after the break and I’m sure both he and Kelvin will have benefited greatly from the run out.
It seems apt at this stage to thank the medical department for all their hard work so far in what has been a challenging campaign for them. I know the players appreciate all of their efforts and hopefully we will see more players return to action before the season comes to an end.
Last week was something of a whirlwind for us all but, now our long-term managerial situation has been settled, hopefully our performances on the field will become more consistent. After all, there are six matches still to play and the top six is far from out of our reach just yet.
I know you will be with us all the way. Come on you Reds.
