Jonathan Greening has told Nottingham Forest’s matchday magazine that he is enjoying his player/coach role at The City Ground this season. The midfielder has been assisting Charlie McParland with his coaching of The Reds’ Under 21s side and says in the magazine’s latest edition, which goes on sale tomorrow ahead of the clash with his former club Middlesbrough, that he’s more than happy with life at the moment.
“I’m absolutely loving the coaching I’m doing now, more so than I thought I would to be honest,” he says. “There are so many fantastic coaches here. People like Gary Brazil, Steve Chettle and Steve Sutton. I can learn so much from them all.”
Despite revelling in his coaching role, the former Manchester United man still hopes to make his mark on the first team this season.
“I still want to be involved.” he insists. “I’ve been playing football for 20 years. It’s hard to fall out of love with it.”
Also featured is August’s Player of the Month Andy Reid, who spoke about his international future, his recent Player of the Month award and the team spirit within the camp.
“It’s a pleasure to come into work in the morning,” he says. “The last time I felt like this at Forest was when we reached the playoffs in 2003.”
Fans can read both interviews in full, along with a host of other features, in tomorrow’s issue (£3).
The magazine will be available from all the usual outlets around The City Ground. It can also be downloaded via this app from 6.45pm onwards.
