Jack Hobbs has told Nottingham Forest’s matchday magazine of his excitement to play in the biggest derby of his career to date. The summer loan signing from Hull City has made an impressive start to his City Ground career and on Saturday will get his first taste of an East Midlands derby as Nigel Clough’s men come to town (kick-off 12.15pm).
“I’ve seen a few highlights from previous Forest v Derby games and I’ve heard there aren’t many atmospheres like it,” he says in the latest edition of the magazine. “I’m really excited to play in such a massive game.”
The 25 year old, who is the main feature in this weekend’s publication, also fondly recalls his adaptation to life at Liverpool after leaving Lincoln City as a youngster.
“It was a big change,” he says. “At Lincoln we used to get changed at Sincil Bank before training on the astro-turf just across from the ground.
“I went from there to Liverpool’s training ground where the pitches are unbelievable, there’s a swimming pool and the likes of Steven Gerrard, Xabi Alonso and Sami Hyypia were working around me.”
Also featured is Jamie Mackie, who shares Hobbs’ excitement for the clash.
“It was the fixture I looked out for straight away,” he says. “I can’t wait to experience the atmosphere this game has to offer.”
For fans of a nostalgic disposition, there is a double-page spread littered with supporters’ happiest memories of The City Ground, while those interested in the players’ off-pitch activities can learn about Karl Darlow’s latest holiday destination.
The magazine will be available from all the usual outlets around The City Ground. It can also be downloaded via this app from 9am onwards.
