Nottingham Forest striker Darius Henderson has told Forest Player of his delight after scoring the winner in yesterday’s 3-2 victory over Barnsley.
Fellow 76th-minute substitute Djamal Abdoun won the corner from which Henderson headed home a dramatic late winner in front of The Trent End.And the powerful front man said that his happiness to score was reflected in his celebration: “We were put on there to make an impact so to score the winner was a great feeling.
“Again, my celebration wasn’t planned, but sometimes emotions get the better of you!”
Henderson’s last appearance came away at Blackburn, a game in which he notched another late winner.
And despite boasting two goals from two games, the 32 year old is solely focussed on reclaiming a place in Billy Davies’ starting line-up.
Henderson said: “My personal goal at the minute is to stay fit and give the gaffer a problem when it comes to naming the team on a matchday.
“I’m looking to build momentum and get my fitness up – I have missed a few weeks but hopefully now I can progress and challenge for a place in the starting 11.”
