28 September 2013

Forest have been in superb form at The City ground this season, and they’ve lost just twice in their last 17 games at home.

The East Midlands derby promises to be a fiercely contested match but Forest go in as deserved favourites. While they will feel happy with a point on the road last weekend, after trailing till late on, Derby were being beaten at home. Forest have scored in all of their last 10 games, and given Derby’s suspect defence they should find the net again here. The Rams have actually conceded first in 70% of their away matches since the start of last season and, in the same time, Forest have won 11 of 13 home matches when scoring first.

The derby hasn’t been the happiest of games for Forest fans in the past couple of seasons but that should serve as extra motivation here. They can be backed at evens to win, and that looks good value.

Five of Forest’s last six matches have featured more than two goals, as have all of Derby’s last five, so this doesn’t look like a low-scoring derby. In fact, half of Forest’s last 10 home matches against middle-third teams have seen at least four goals, so it could pay to back over 3.5 goals at 7/4

Other reasons to bet:

- Nottm Forest have scored first in eight of their last 10 matches - 8/11
- Derby have conceded first in seven of their last eight away matches against top-six teams - 8/11
- Nottm Forest have had more goals in the second half in eight of their last 10 home matches against middle-third teams - 1/1
