Betting Preview

13 September 2013

Nottingham Forest have had a great start to the Championship season, but came unstuck against Wigan last time out, as they lost their unbeaten record.

The next match for Billy Davies’s team is at home to struggling Barnsley, and so Forest will be looking to gain all three points.

Forest have only lost one of their last 10 home matches, while Barnsley have lost nine of their last 10 away games. A Forest win is the most likely outcome, and Forest have had win/win results in their last four wins against bottom-six teams. They’ve been fast starters this season and have scored the first goal in their last seven matches. If Forest appear short at 8/15 to win, perhaps a better bet would be for them to be ahead at HT at evens. The 13/8 on offer for a Forest win to nil also seems a great prospect.

Over 2.5 goals also seems a good bet this weekend. There have been +2.5 goals in 9/14 Nottingham Forest home matches and in 10/16 Barnsley away matches. Barnsley have a weak defence, and have kept only one clean sheet in six. Forest to win and over 2.5 goals is available to back at 5/4 as is Forest to score in both halves, which is a very realistic possibility.

Other reasons to bet:
- There have been over 1.5 goals in the second half in eight of Forest’s last 12 home matches against bottom-six teams 5/2.
- Forest have been level at half-time in three of their last four home matches against Barnsley 5/4.
- Forest have had more goals in the second half in nine of their last 12 home matches against bottom-six teams 1/1.
