Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies has told Forest Player that Gonzalo Jara’s road to Brazil 2014 could begin in earnest against Bournemouth on Saturday.Regular right back Eric Lichaj is suspended for the match after picking up his fifth booking in the win over Brighton a fortnight ago. That leaves the door open for Jara, who was part of the Chile squad that qualified for the World Cup this week, to make his first league appearance of the season.
The Reds boss said: “We’re delighted for Gonzo. He has had to be patient because Eric has done very well in the early part of the season and deserved to keep his place. It’s been a frustrating time for Gonzo but he knows football and accepted the team were doing well.
“Eric’s suspension now gives him the opportunity to come into the side. I’m sure he will look to earn an extended run in the team and prepare himself for what could be a very good end to the season and a fantastic World Cup for him and his country.”
The manager also revealed that the break has helped nurture some of his injured troops back to fitness.
And he had particularly encouraging news to report on Kelvin Wilson, who has been unavailable since injuring his back against Middlesbrough last month.
“Kelvin’s making good progress, he certainly won’t be too far away.
“The break has given some of our injured players time to recover, which has now happened, and we’ll hopefully see one or two of them come back into the squad.”
