Nottingham Forest’s latest signing David Vaughan has told Forest Player he hopes to bring ‘promotion-winning’ experience to the Reds squad. The Sunderland midfielder completed a loan switch to The City Ground this morning and arrives with plenty of know-how after helping Blackpool reach the top flight in 2010.
He said: “I’ve been through a promotion-winning season before so hopefully I can give the lads some advice on how to do it. Every game in the Championship is tough but I’ll be giving it my best.
“I’m very pleased to be here and the lads have all welcomed me in, so that’s been great. The club has a good history and the way they play football suits my style.
“I need to play as many games as possible during my time here and I’d like to help Forest get some important points towards the target of promotion.”
In an ironic twist, Vaughan’s first game in Forest colours could come against his former employers Blackpool, with whom the Welshman enjoyed a fruitful spell.
He said: “Blackpool holds some really good memories for me. I won promotion there and we spent a year in the Premier League. There are plenty of new faces at the club now but it will be good to catch up with some old friends.
“We’ve got a really tough run of fixtures coming up against sides at the top end of the table, but if we can get some positive results against them then we’ll be in and around the top six.”
