Nottingham Forest full back Gonzalo Jara has told Forest Player that he will worry about winning promotion from the Championship before concerning himself with the 2014 World Cup.The former West Brom man was part of the Chile squad that recently qualified for next summer’s tournament in Brazil but, after making his first league appearance of the season in last Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Bournemouth, Jara knows where his immediate priorities lie.
He said: “I want to go to the World Cup, but first we need to win promotion to the Premier League.
“We play really good football and have quality players. The Championship is a very difficult league, it’s more physical than the Premier League, but with our team I think we can get promoted.”
Jara, who says he feels ‘really good’ and ‘ready’ for the trip to Yeovil on Saturday, signed a one-year deal at The City Ground this summer after spending the second half of last season on loan from The Hawthorns.
And the cultured defender is feeling more than content on Trentside.
He said: “I have really good friends here and I’m enjoying my time in Nottingham. I’m really happy because my family are here now. I need to play football so if my family like it in Nottingham then that is good for me.
“My heart is here and I would be really happy to stay at Forest after the World Cup.”
