Gaffer’s Pride

4 October 2013

Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies has spoken of his pride at the start his side have made to the 2013-14 Sky Bet Championship season.

The Reds boast the best home record in the division and they have been beaten just once in their first ten league matches, a record their manager is delighted with.

Speaking ahead of his side’s trip to Brighton, the Reds boss said: “Having got to five playoffs with three different clubs, along with the wonderful staff I have here, this is the best points return I’ve ever had at the ten-game stage. In fact even after 15 games I’ve not had this many points.

“There is no such thing as perfection. We will have our off days. That’s just what happens in life. But I have to be pleased. We are in the top four, we have a great home record and we’ve been beaten once in ten matches.”

The Brighton fixture will be Forest’s final outing before the international break, and their manager is looking forward to a gap in league action.

He said: “We’ve got work to do. Once we get beyond the Brighton match and into the international break we enter a period where we can start to coach this team. That hasn’t happened yet.

“We know from years gone by that there is a certain time when you put your stamp on a team. That time is now just around the corner.”
